“When anxious, uneasy, and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.” – Rainer Maria Rilke

I never saw the ocean until I was 18 years old. It was the summer after I graduated high school and it was love at first sight. I've managed to make a trip back to the sea each year since then. I thought 2012 would break my rhythm but since
I managed to make it to Florida to celebrate the new year— the tradition lives on. I guess I should feel pretty vulnerable posting these photos— no makeup, ponytail, oversized cardigan. . . But I felt so happy when I was taking them. I felt like I was finally myself again— even though I didn't even realize I was in a funk. Just give me the ocean and the writings of my favorite poet and I am one happy gal.
(Yes, I am wearing a swimsuit as a top because yes, I did
jump in the ocean—the perfect way to end the new year!)
